Jeff grew up on a corn and soybean farm in Illinois where his parents and surroundings cultivated his love for the outdoors. He obtained a BS in Natural Resources Management with a concentration in Conservation Biology from Colorado State University. He took a detour to snowboard bum before finding his interest in restoration through a volunteer group while completing school. He taught skiing and snowboarding in between seasonal positions as a park ranger, working with plants on restoration projects for open spaces, consulting, and in outdoor education. He moved to Klamath Falls, Oregon in 2021 to work at an outdoor school before spending 2.5 years with Klamath Watershed Partnership completing administrative tasks and managing small projects. In his free time he enjoys hiking, fishing, concerts, cooking, paddling, hunting, foraging, gardening, and crabbing.
Role at Coos WA: Jeff will manage projects mostly in the lowlands with a focus on improving salmonid habitats and working lands while incorporating holistic benefits to other species whenever possible. Most projects will be on private lands where Jeff and CoosWA act as liasons between landowners and funders. He also works with the other project managers and Plants Program Manager to assess crew needs/scheduling and manages the crew program.
Favorite Activity/Place in Coos County: As a land lubber (for now), Jeff enjoys racking up new species from shore. His first time catching rockfish was in Coos County after a long weekend of losing gear. One more cast became a school of rockfish and a late drive home. The trail from Sunset Bay to Cape Arago is his favorite on the coast.
